Protect Your Bub from the Sun with a Natural Baby Sunscreen

October 23rd, 2011

Today was such a beautiful day and probably the hottest this Spring. The UV in Australia is brutal as we have no ozone that gives us a level of protection from the sun and its rays.

Prevention is key for your bub and their beautiful precious skin.

This is one of our best selling Natural Baby Sunscreens. Highly recommended as it contains NO CHEMICALS.

Imagine a sunscreen that uses natural ingredients! UV Natural is formulated from completely naturally derived ingredients and Zinc Oxide to screen the sun’s harmful rays. Light and pure, UV natural is formulated to also moisturise and soften the skin. UV Natural products are fragrance and preservative free. Each product is absorbed by the skin and can be worn under make-up. The UVnatural range of sunscreen products are listed with the Therapeutic Goods Administration Australia (TGA) and the Food and Drug Administration (USA).

Bambinex Swim Nappies are a winner this 2011 Summer

September 22nd, 2011

The Bambinex Baby Swim Nappy will hit our Aussie beaches and back yard pools this Summer 2011 for the first time.

The Brand Bambinex also make reusable nappies: Bamboo, All In Ones and All In Two’s

The Bambinex Baby Swim Nappy is designed to keep the beach or swimming pool clean. It cleverly holds solids inside the slim fitting swim nappy.

Swim Nappies are not designed to contain wee as holding wee inside a nappy submerged in water would be an invention we are yet to see! But they do hold solids and they are super neat, trim and look just a like a swimmer should.

The Bambinex Baby Swim Nappy is made of:

Inner Part: thin soft polyester/cotton mini loop for super softness

Outer Part: thin polyester jersey with a laminated PU membrane for fast drying time

They come packaged with care instructions and are a great gift idea.

Bambinex Swim Nappies come in 2 sizes: size 1 (5-7 kgs) and size 2 (7-9 kgs)

Available in 3 cool colours; blue, green and yellow.

TIP: Keep an extra Baby Swim Nappy on hand, so you have something to put back on bub if they do “fill their pants”.

We advise to wash the Baby Swim Nappies at 40 degrees with small amount of washing powder and no fabric softener.

Purchase your Baby Swim Nappy today for only $19.99

Keeping your baby warm of a night in Winter

July 7th, 2011

I found this great article in the latest edition of pregnancy and birth magazine. So how many layers do you need to cover your bub with of a night? How warm should the room temperature be? It is important not to overheat your bub of a night as this increases the risks of SIDS.

Sharon Donaldson from Pregnancy and Birth Magazine has a few pointers to share with us:

  • You don’t need to leave the heating on all night or monitor bub’s room temperature with a thermometer, but ensure that she is dressed properly appropriately.
  • A good way to check your baby’s temperature is to feel her chest, which should be warm (don’t worry is baby’s hands and feet are cool, this is normal)
  • Babies control their temperature through the face, so it’s important not to cover it whilst she sleeps. So no beanies or hats, which may slip down over the face, no quilts, pillows, bumpers or soft toys in the cot.
  • Swaddle your newborn in a cotton blanket, then layer natural fiber blankets so she si warm, but not too hot.
  • Never use electric blankets, heated wheat bags or hot water bottles in babies cots.

Hope these tips help give you a few pointers for your bub with Winter.

BPA FREE Baby Bottles as seen on 60 minutes tonight

June 5th, 2011

Tonight on 60 minutes we learnt about BPA Free bottles. Below is the information given to hand thus far from the 60 minutes transcript. More to follow tomorrow:

Remember when we were told that cigarettes were actually good for us?

Then there was that miracle building material – asbestos.

Now, we can add another everyday product to the ‘no go’ list.

Some plastics contain a compound that’s been linked to all kinds of health problems – from cancer and heart disease to obesity and even brain damage.

It’s called Bisphenol A or BPA and the research is so persuasive that many countries have banned it or are phasing it out.

Alarmingly, Australia isn’t one of them.

But that’s not the really frightening part. One of the most common uses of this nasty chemical is making baby bottles.

Story contacts:

Shop for plastics which are “BPA” free.
For more information on plastics – go to the Care 2 Website: www.care2.com

Will provide the full story tomorrow, stay tuned.
