So you have your Eco Friendly Biodegradable Disposable Nappy, and now you want to do the best you can for the environment and allow your nappy to biodegrade as much as possible. You can reduce the eco foot print of your disposable nappy even further by taking some steps to biodegrade your nappy instead of throwing it away inside a plastic bag.
What elements are needed for items to biodegrade?
- temperature
- moisture
- carbon dioxide
- oxygen
The sad truth is that many nappies end up in landfill where there is no oxygen, light or moisture which are needed for composition to take place. So the nappies will biodegrade at a much slower rate.
There are many factors that affect the environmental impact of a nappy, biodegradability is just one of them. The Nordic Swan Label that is given to the Bambo Nature Nappies ensures that these nappies have been tested and passed on:
-
energy and resource consumption
-
factory emissions into air, water and land
-
limits on the creation of waste products
-
the content of environmentally hazardous substances in the product
-
anything that may be hazardous to humans
How do I compost my Bambo Nature Eco Disposable Nappies?
Your Bambo Nature Nappy is 75% biodegradable. Seperate the core of the nappy from the outer layer and place the biodegradable core in the compost bin. The outer of the nappy can then go into your rubbish bin. Alternatively, you can place the entire nappy in the bin, and after the biodegradable part of the nappy has decomposed, you can remove the out of the nappy from your compost bin and place in your rubbish bin.
Either way you are contributing to less landfill.
We recommend you do not place this compost on vegetable gardens or your herb garden. Also, only compost wet nappies in your home compost bin.
