Associate Professor Mimi Tang, head of the Allergy and Immunology Department at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, was the Australian consultant on this book, and all recipes are approved by the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Bambinex Basic Line – its Basic!

May 12th, 2011

Bambinex Basic Line Nappies are just that ….BASIC!!

Are you sick of complicated steps and processes?? Do you find reusable nappies complicated and like figuring out a jigsaw puzzle?

There is a reason why the Bambinex Nappies won the Baby Innovation Award in the UK for 2011 for their Basic Line Nappies. They have put the usable in reusable nappies!

Here’s how:

  • You need the same PUL Cover (outer cover) from birth to potty (saving lots of $$$)
  • You use a Bone Booster (like a big dog bone shaped thick insert) inside the PUL Cover

So when change time comes, all you do is change the bone booster, use a baby wipe to wipe the inside of the PUL cover if wet and place a new, fresh bone booster inside. We recommend that you change the PUL cover approximately every 3-4 nappy changes.

To ensure you keep the excellent absorbency of the bone booster we recommend that you prewash it 3 times minimum prior to first use (no softeners allowed, minimal powder, and quick wash is sufficient with no drying needed between washes). To keep the absorbency you will want to place a biodegradable nappy liner on top of your bone booster to protect it from creams, balms and other products that you may be using on babies bot.

What better way to save even more dollars with this award winning nappy than to purchase a complete kit.

Kit Contains:

  • 5 PUL one size wraps in white and blue
  • 14 x size 1 bone boosters
  • 12 x size 2 bone boosters
  • product care booklet
  • washing instructions
  • 20 x absorbent nappy liners

This compact concept offers you the equivelent of 6,000 disposable nappies! We hope you enjoy. We also have a Bambinex Test Kit in the Basic Line arriving in approx 5 weeks (towards end of June 2011)

Share your Bambinex thoughts, questions and experiences with us.

Bambinex Bamboo Nappies

May 6th, 2011

Bambinex have different nappy lines within their range:

1) The Basic Line – NEW innovative nappy consisting of a PUL cover and bone booster

2) The Softness Line – Bamboo Range

3) The Comfort Line – All-In-One Range

The Softness Line come in the following sized nappies:

  • Size 1 3.5kgs – 10 kgs
  • Size 2 9 kgs +
  • One Size – birth to potty

The One Size Nappy is the most recent addition to the Softness Line Family. It is a great economical choice along with being a great environmental choice.

So what are the benefits of Bamboo?

A wise choice …. Bamboo is easy to grow, grows quickly and thrives without the use of fertilizers or pesticides. It does not exhaust the soil. A natural miracle product:

  • Bamboo Nappies are naturally antibactierial and anti-allergic
  • Bamboo Nappies are extremely soft
  • Bamboo is more absorbent than cotton
  • Bamboo dries up to 20% faster
  • Bamboo maintains these unique properties, even after frequent wearing and washing.
  • Bambinex® Bamboo Nappies absorbency even improves with washing!

How to Use Bambinex® Natural Softness Line Nappies

Reusable nappies are quite similar in use to disposable nappies, with a few minor differences.

  • Lay out the outer PUL wrap ensuring its fabric side is facing downwards
  • Insert the Bamboo Nappy into the outer wrap
  • Add a booster (unfolded for girls, folded in two for boys)
  • Put an abosorbent cellulose paper liner on top of the booster. Fold it in two or three depending on your baby’s weight.
  • Fit the nappy around your baby’s waist
  • Then fasten the outer wrap

Every baby is different … You can adapt this to your baby’s needs.

Note: All Bambinex® Bamboo Nappies require a PUL Cover. View the Bambinex® PUL Covers here.

So Easy to Keep Clean

To make the Bamboo fibres fully absorbent all nappies and boosters should be laundered 3 times before use. They can be machine washed at 40°C. The bamboo nappies and boosters may also be tumble-dried. Never use fabric softener as this will reduce the absorbency of the nappies and boosters. You only need a very small amount of washing powder.

Care of your Bambinex® Nappies

You will be given a Bambinex Care Booklet when you purchase any Bambinex Nappies. Please read this carefully to ensure that you get maximum absorbency from your Bambinex Bamboo Nappies.

Recommended temperature: 40°C

Recommended dosage for a normal dry load of 4-5 kg: 35 grams

Washing instructions:

  • Sort your laundry (according to colour, degree of dirtiness and type of fibres)
  • Use the washing machine with a full load, but do not overfill it.
  • Prewash extremely dirty laundry.
  • Preferably opt for washing at low temperatures (40°C).

Why Choose Bambinex® Reusable Nappies?

Today’s reusable nappies are nothing like the old-fashioned and often ill-reputed terry squares. They have come a long way since then and are fast becoming the premium choice of nappy for many parents. And rightly so …as their benefits are plentiful. Bambinex is an innovative reusable nappy concept offering numerous unique advantages. If you chose Bambinex, nappies are no longer an unavoidable evil, but a way of offering your baby optimal protection and maximum comfort from birth.

1. Bambinex offers ultimate comfort

2. Bambinex is more affordable then buying disposables for the nappy years of your little one

3. Bambinex contributes to your babies wellbeing – as the fabric used is breathable, Bambinex Nappies allows air to pass, retains moisture ensuring the ideal nappy temperature and reduces the risk of nappy rash

4. Bambinex cares about the environment – using reusable nappies reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill. Bambinex Nappies last a lifetime and do not contain any harmful chemicals.

Bambinex Arrives in Australia

May 3rd, 2011

Bambinos and Rugrats are so excited to be stocking one of the UK and Europe’s favourite reusable nappies, Bambinex.

Bambinex just won the Baby Innovation Award for 2011 for their Basic Line Nappies.

The Basic Line Nappies are so easy to use and are a birth to potty sized nappy. The cost per nappy change on there are unbelievable, we are working on these at the moment, getting ready to publish our findings. You will be amazed at how much you will save by using these simple and effective nappies.

The Bambinex Basic Line Nappies consist of 2 components:

1) the bone booster insert

2) the outer PUL wrap

To use, you simply put either a size 1 (3.5kgs-10kgs) or size 2 (9kgs+) bone booster inside of your Bambinex one size PUL wrap. To prevent bottom balms/creams from getting on to the bone booster we recommend that you put a disposable/biodegradable nappy liner on top of the boner booster. The Nappy Liner is great for getting rid of solids when changing nappies.

At change time, you simply change the microfiber insert with another. If the PUL cover is soiled that will also need to be changed.

To keep the absorbancy of your bone booster, make sure you do not use any bleach, vinegar or fabric softener when washing the bone boosters. Also, ensure no bottom balm/cream gets onto the bone boosters as this will coat the fabric with creams and emollients inhibiting the absorption of the booster.

The bone booster will need to be washed 5 times minimum prior to usage like most reusable nappies. This is to ensure the booster is absorbent and your baby is leak free.

Cleaning your Baby’s Gums

April 6th, 2011

Should I start cleaning my baby’s gums even before his teeth come in?

Yes. Even before your baby sports his first tooth, it’s a good idea to get into the habit of wiping his gums with gauze or a soft wet washcloth   during bath time. You don’t need to use any toothpaste yet. Simply wrap the cloth or gauze around your index finger and rub it gently over the gums.

Bacteria in the mouth usually can’t harm the gums before the teeth emerge, but it can be hard to tell when the teeth are starting to push through, so you’ll want to start early. Getting your baby used to having his mouth cleaned as part of his daily routine should make it easier to transition into tooth brushing later on. Curvy Carrot Infant Toothbrush pictured right is a Baby toothbrush for infants aged 3 months + RRP $12.95

What’s the best way to brush my baby’s teeth after they start coming in?

As your child’s teeth start to appear (generally around 6 months), look for a baby toothbrush with a small bristle head and larger grip suitable for your hand. (If your child is healthy and still hasn’t sprouted his first tooth by the end of his first year, don’t worry — some children don’t start getting them until 15 to 18 months.)

As long as you’re cleaning your child’s teeth regularly, you don’t need to use any toothpaste yet. Just brush the teeth gently on both the outside and inside surfaces twice a day. Brush his tongue as well (if he’ll let you) to dislodge the bacteria that can cause bad breath. One quick swipe is enough. Replace the toothbrush as soon as the bristles start to look worn or splayed out. If you wish to use a tooth paste

Riddells Creek Organic Mint Toothpaste is sulphate free and certified organic. Keep your gums clean and healthy, breath fresh and crisp and your teeth protected with this chemical free toothpaste. Safe for the entire family. RRP $8.95
